Item Description: Original Photograph, by Joan Schulte, entitled, “Bulleit Barrels.” For Bourbon enthusiasts and explorers on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, here is an original photo that shows the handmade barrels of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, where Bulleit Bourbon is made. The photo has been transferred onto a hand-crafted, rectangular box panel (or support) which is made from locally sourced (in Louisville, Ky) salvaged or reclaimed wood, such as doors or discarded shelving.
|Production Method||My photographic transfers begin as an original photograph taken with my Nikon D7000. I print my photos onto a transfer paper using an Epson 4900 inkjet printer. I build each support for my photo transfers using only reclaimed wood materials. When I transfer the photo onto the wood support, the image becomes very delicate and will crack during the drying process. This creates a unique piece that has an aged or distressed quality. Due to the cracking nature of the paper, and the varying materials that I use for my wood supports, no two pieces are identical.|
